TRINITY AFTERSCHOOL CARE

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE

Trinity provides transportation to and from many area elementary schools. These schools are Alger B. Wilkins, College Lakes, Ferguson-Easley, Howard Hall, Long Hill, Lucile Souders, Warrenwood, Westarea, and W.T. Brown. Students are provided with a nutritious breakfast each morning before going to school. The vans leave the center at approximately 7:15 am each school day. After school activities include snack, homework time, outside play, inside group activities, and many more fun activities for your school-age child to enjoy. A new large outside playground area, complimented new state of the art playground equipment for appropriate age groups, awaits afterschoolers each day for their enjoyment. Trinity afterschoolers have fun every day of the week and sometimes do not want to leave the Center when their parents arrive for their departure!

21ST CENTURY T.R.A.C.K.S

Together Reaching All Community Kids Successfully

Partially funded by the State Board of Education Department of Public Instruction (DPI), this After School and Summer Program is currently in its second year of programming. Ninety students, grades 3 through 5, from three local public schools receive an array of academic enrichment opportunities with a primary focus on increasing the achievement levels in reading, math and science. All of these students are low Level I and II in both reading and math, at-risk of academic failure, living in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, and are attending low performing/high priority schools in Cumberland County. A consortium of local colleges, businesses and community partners collaborate with the 21st Century T.R.A.C.K.S. program to provide academic and enrichment opportunities for these children and their families during after school hours and on weekends. When the students arrive to the program, they eat a nutritious snack; interact with their peers; start homework, tutoring and planned lessons; eat dinner and depart for home. The program also offers free transportation. A holistic approach to child development is
incorporated in all aspects of the T.R.A.C.K.S. After School & Summer Program.

SUMMER PROGRAM

Each summer Trinity offers a summer program for our school-age students. As part of the program, students will explore basic academics in the morning. The subjects covered are those which the students should have learned the previous school year. This review is done to give the students extra practice and to help them retain the information during the summer months. Another part of Trinity's summer program are the field trips and special guests who visit the center. Each class goes on one field trip per week. Field trips include swimming, bowling, duck feeding, hay rides, museums, and the movies. Special guests include McGruff the Crime Dog, a dentist, and the Police K-9 Unit. A favorite of our summer program students is splash day! This event occurs when a local fire station comes to Trinity and sprays the students with their fire hose! We also conduct a book fair for our students and parents to purchase many interesting and informative books.
